MoneyBalance is a free resource committed to transparency about how we earn revenue. This page explains our affiliate relationships, advertising, and how they do — and do not — affect our content.

How MoneyBalance Earns Revenue

MoneyBalance earns revenue through two primary sources:

1. Affiliate partnerships MoneyBalance participates in affiliate programmes with financial product providers. When you click certain links on our site and subsequently open an account, apply for a product, or make a purchase, we may receive a commission or referral fee. This is at no additional cost to you — affiliate fees are paid by the provider, not added to your costs.

2. Display advertising MoneyBalance displays advertisements through Google AdSense and may use other advertising networks. These ads are served automatically based on page content and, where you have opted in, your browsing history. We do not control which specific ads appear on a given page.

Affiliate links on MoneyBalance are typically links to financial product providers such as banks, KiwiSaver providers, investing platforms, insurance companies, and comparison services. We do not use deceptive redirects or hide the fact that links may be commercial.

Where a page contains affiliate relationships with specific providers being compared or recommended, we aim to note this clearly near the top of the article.

How This Affects Our Content

It doesn’t — or shouldn’t.

Our calculators always return the mathematically correct result regardless of which products we have affiliate relationships with. A KiwiSaver fee comparison will show the lowest-fee option even if we earn no commission from that provider.

Our editorial recommendations aim to reflect genuine assessments based on publicly available product terms, fee schedules, interest rates, and features. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews or higher rankings.

However, we acknowledge that:

  • We may cover providers we have affiliate relationships with more frequently than others
  • The products we choose to review may be influenced by the availability of affiliate programmes
  • Revenue constraints mean we are a small team and cannot cover every financial product equally

Products We Do Not Cover

We do not accept sponsored content or paid product placements disguised as editorial. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as such.

Your Trust Matters

MoneyBalance’s value as a resource depends entirely on the trust of our readers. If you ever feel a recommendation seems biased, inconsistent with the data, or suspect an affiliate relationship is influencing our content inappropriately, please contact us. We take these concerns seriously.

Regulatory Note

MoneyBalance provides general financial information, not personalised financial advice. We are not a licensed financial adviser under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013. Our content is educational. Always conduct your own research or consult a registered financial adviser before making financial decisions.
